Head to head
NuFACE TRINITY+ vs ZIIP Halo
The only two devices in this category that publish a current figure, and they publish different kinds of figure because they disagree about what the variable is.

The core disagreement
Two different theories of what matters
NuFACE's position is essentially about amplitude and technique: a defined microamp range, a skin sensor that adjusts it, attachments shaped for different areas, and a manual pass pattern you learn. The number they publish is a ceiling.
ZIIP's position is that the shape of the waveform matters as much as its size. The Halo runs from 900 nanoamps - three orders of magnitude below the microcurrent ceiling - up to 400 microamps, across up to 23 combinations pushed from an app. The number they publish is a range.
Neither position is settled by published evidence, and we are not going to pretend one is. What we can say is that both brands publish a figure, which puts them ahead of FOREO and Medicube before any argument about whose theory is right.

Regulation
The clearance gap
NuFACE has eight located clearances in product code NFO going back to 2007, including K201782 naming the Trinity Plus device specifically. That is the deepest regulatory history of any brand on this site.
ZIIP holds two: K161484 for the original ZIIP Device (February 2017) and K212342 for the ZIIP+ (September 2021). We searched for a record naming the Halo and found none. The brand is clearly familiar with the process, so the Halo is either covered by an existing record under a different name, or sold without one.
This is a genuine point against the Halo, and it is the main reason NuFACE edges this comparison for a buyer who weights verifiability. If a ZIIP clearance for the Halo exists, tell us.
Living with it
App dependency is a real trade-off
The Halo is substantially less useful without the ZIIP app and an account. Treatments are pushed to the device; the waveform library is the product. If you like that, it is the most interesting device in this category. If you do not want another account and another app, it is a dependency rather than a feature.
The NuFACE has an app too, but the device works without it. That difference matters more over five years than it does in the first week.
Time
Four minutes versus a learned routine
ZIIP's flagship routine, THE LIFT, runs four minutes. NuFACE's protocol is a learned pass pattern typically taking five to ten minutes depending on coverage.
Four minutes is a real adherence advantage, and in a category defined by abandonment that counts for a lot. Against that, the NuFACE pattern is yours once you have learned it and does not require opening an app first.
In detail
Every pick, and why
Wins on regulatory record
NuFACE TRINITY+
NuFACE · Best for a device with a clearance naming the model
K201782 for the device and K212947 for the LED attachment, plus up to 340 microamps published and a two-year warranty. The deepest clearance history in the category, back to 2007.
The reference microcurrent device: swappable attachments, an app, a published microamp ceiling and the deepest clearance history in the category.
Specifications
| Output | Up to 340 microamps; the Boost button adds 25 microamps |
|---|---|
| Attachments | Facial Trainer, Effective Lip and Eye, Wrinkle Reducer (red LED) |
| Protocol | 5 times a week for 60 days, then 2-3 times a week |
| Warranty | 2 years |

FDA clearance located
510(k) K201782 (NuFace Trinity Plus Device, cleared 22 January 2021, product code NFO - over-the-counter powered facial toning). The Wrinkle Reducer attachment carries its own clearance, K212947 (2 April 2022, product code OHS).
What works
- Publishes its actual microamp output, which most of this category refuses to do
- Two located clearances, one for the device and one for the LED attachment
- Two-year warranty is the longest here
What does not
- Attachments are sold separately and add up fast
- Needs conductive gel every session, which is a running cost
- The app is a convenience, not a reason to buy

Wins on treatment variety
ZIIP Halo
ZIIP Beauty · Best for varying the treatment to the day
900 nanoamps to 400 microamps across up to 23 waveform combinations, with a four-minute flagship routine. No clearance located for the Halo itself; ZIIP's records are K161484 and K212342 for earlier devices.
The app-driven device that runs nanocurrent as well as microcurrent, with a published current range that spans three orders of magnitude.
Specifications
| Output | 900 nA to 400 microamps across up to 23 waveform combinations |
|---|---|
| Flagship routine | THE LIFT, 4 minutes |
| Control | Treatments are pushed from the ZIIP app |
| Clearance | None located for the Halo; see K161484 and K212342 for the brand |
FDA clearance not located
No 510(k) record located for the Halo specifically. ZIIP's cleared devices on file are the ZIIP Device (K161484, 24 February 2017) and ZIIP+ (K212342, 23 September 2021), both product code NFO.
What works
- Publishes an actual current range, including the nanocurrent floor
- The only device here that treats waveform shape as the variable
- Four-minute flagship routine is realistically repeatable
What does not
- No located clearance for this model
- The device is useless without the app and an account
- Conductive gel is proprietary and a continuing cost
Specifications from ZIIP Halo retail specification; FDA 510(k) database query, checked 13 October 2026.
The decision
Who should buy which
- NuFACE TRINITY+ if you want a clearance naming the model, a two-year warranty, attachments for different areas, or a device that works without an app.
- ZIIP Halo if the four-minute routine is what will keep you consistent, if you want variety in the treatment, or if you find the waveform argument persuasive.
- NuFACE MINI+ if this is your first device and you are not sure yet. That comparison is here.
