What we publish, what we refuse to, and how we correct it
Standards, the claims we never make, and the corrections process. Written down so you can hold us to it.
This page sets out what Glow & Current will publish, what it will not, and what happens when we get something wrong. It is written to be held against us.
What goes out
Standards for every page
- Every factual claim has a source, and the source is linked in a Sources section at the bottom of the page.
- Every specification is dated. Manufacturers revise product pages without notice, so a spec table without a date is a spec table you cannot trust.
- Every brand-stated figure says so. Irradiance and energy-density numbers come from manufacturers and have not been independently verified.
- Every absence is reported. If a manufacturer does not publish a figure, that is stated in the table rather than left blank or filled with a guess.
- Every page names who should not buy the device. A recommendation with no counter-case has not been thought about.
Hard limits
Claims we never make
- That we tested anything. We have no lab and no review units. The words “we tested”, “in our testing” and “our testers” do not appear on this site.
- That a device is FDA approved. None is. Some are cleared, which is a different and lower bar, and the distinction is one of the most commonly abused claims in this category.
- That a result is clinically proven, without a linked citation to the study behind it.
- That a device is dermatologist-recommended or expert-approved. No clinician reviews this site, and saying otherwise would be a lie.
- A numeric score or star rating. A score asserts a measurement we did not take.
- A price, in prose. Prices come only from the live data layer with a date stamp and a 48-hour expiry.

When we are wrong
Corrections
- Report it via the contact page or by emailing contact@glowandcurrent.com. Corrections go to the top of the pile.
- We check it against the primary source - the manufacturer's current page, or the FDA database - rather than against another publisher.
- We fix it and date it. Where a correction changes a recommendation or a key figure, the page carries a note saying what changed and when.
- We do not quietly delete. A page that was wrong and is now right should say so; that is the whole point of being correctable.
Maintenance
How pages are updated
We re-check a page when something changes - a product is revised or discontinued, a new clearance is published, a manufacturer adds or removes a specification - rather than on a fixed calendar. Every page shows its last-updated date, and that date reflects a genuine content change rather than a redeploy.
The same principle governs the sitemap: it reports each page's real modification date, not the build timestamp. A site that claims everything changed on every deploy is training search engines to ignore it.
Commercial
Independence
No brand pays for placement, sees copy before publication, or supplies us with product. We earn affiliate commission through Amazon, which is disclosed on every commercial page and in full on the disclosure page. Where the cheaper device is the better buy we say so, and where the honest answer is not to upgrade, we say that too.
Accountability
Author
Everything here is written by Selena H., who is named on every page. There is no anonymous staff byline and no AI-generated author persona. More about who that is.
Scope
Medical content
Nothing on this site is medical advice. We report what manufacturers and regulators have published. Several pages - notably those covering acne, rosacea, pigmentation and IPL skin-tone safety - explicitly direct readers to a clinician, because that is the correct answer and not a disclaimer.
