Roundup
The best microcurrent devices, ranked by what they will tell you
One brand in this category publishes its microamp output. One publishes a current range. Two publish nothing at all and sell on mode counts instead. That is most of the ranking.

Disclosure: Glow & Current earns a commission when you buy through links on this page, at no extra cost to you. It does not change which device wins or what we say about it — here is exactly how we are funded, and here is how we evaluate devices.
Microcurrent is the category where one brand decided to publish its output and the rest decided to compete on mode counts. That single difference shapes this entire ranking.
Method
How this ranking was built
We did not test these devices. We read what each manufacturer publishes and searched the FDA's public 510(k) database device by device. Devices rank higher for publishing an output figure you can hold them to and for holding a clearance record that names the specific model. They rank lower for asking you to accept a claim with nothing attached to it.

The number that matters
The output table
| Device | Published output | 510(k) located | Protocol |
|---|---|---|---|
| NuFACE TRINITY+ | Up to 340 microamps, +25 with Boost | K201782 (22 Jan 2021), plus K212947 for the LED attachment | 5x a week for 60 days, then 2-3x |
| ZIIP Halo | 900 nA to 400 microamps, 23 waveform combinations | Not for the Halo; K161484 and K212342 for earlier ZIIP devices | THE LIFT is 4 minutes |
| NuFACE MINI+ | Not published separately | K191672 (15 Oct 2019) | Same as the flagship |
| MyoLift Mini | Manual adjustment; no ceiling published | K213078 covers the MyoLift QT | Manual, technique-led |
| FOREO BEAR 2 | Not published | K200803 covers BEAR and BEAR mini | App-guided |
| Medicube AGE-R Booster Pro | Not published; 6 intensity levels | None located | Varies by mode |
Read that first column carefully. Six intensity levels is not a specification - it tells you a device has six positions on a dial, not what any of them delivers. Up to 340 microamps is a specification. The difference is whether the manufacturer can be shown to be wrong.
Regulation
What the clearances show
Microcurrent facial devices sit under FDA product code NFO: over-the-counter powered facial toning. NuFACE's record in this code goes back to 2007 and runs to eight separate clearances, which is the deepest regulatory history in any category on this site.
One detail worth knowing: the NuFACE Trinity+ Wrinkle Reducer attachment, which adds red LED, holds its own clearance, K212947, under the wrinkle-reduction code OHS rather than NFO. A manufacturer filing separately for an accessory is doing the thing correctly, and it is worth noting when so much of this market does not.
Medicube returns nothing. We searched by brand and by the AGE-R device names and found no record at all. That does not make the device unsafe, and plenty of cosmetic devices are sold legally without one - but against a device with two clearances and a published output, it is asking for more trust than it has earned.
Before you buy
The running costs nobody mentions
- Conductive gel, every session. Microcurrent needs a conductive medium or it does nothing. Budget for it like razor blades. What actually has to be in it.
- Attachments, on the NuFACE. The TRINITY+ is a handle. The Facial Trainer, the Lip and Eye attachment and the Wrinkle Reducer are separate purchases, and the full set costs more than the device.
- Time, indefinitely. Five sessions a week for sixty days, then two or three a week forever. The realistic timeline.
- An app and an account, on the ZIIP and FOREO. Both devices are substantially less useful without them, which is a dependency rather than a feature.
In detail
Every pick, and why
No. 1 · Best overall
NuFACE TRINITY+
NuFACE · Best for most people, most faces
The only device here that publishes a microamp ceiling you can hold it to: up to 340 microamps, plus 25 from the Boost button. Two located clearances, K201782 for the device and K212947 for the Wrinkle Reducer attachment, and a two-year warranty. The attachments add up, and that is the main criticism.
The reference microcurrent device: swappable attachments, an app, a published microamp ceiling and the deepest clearance history in the category.
Specifications
| Output | Up to 340 microamps; the Boost button adds 25 microamps |
|---|---|
| Attachments | Facial Trainer, Effective Lip and Eye, Wrinkle Reducer (red LED) |
| Protocol | 5 times a week for 60 days, then 2-3 times a week |
| Warranty | 2 years |
| Clearance | K201782 device, K212947 Wrinkle Reducer attachment |
FDA clearance located
510(k) K201782 (NuFace Trinity Plus Device, cleared 22 January 2021, product code NFO - over-the-counter powered facial toning). The Wrinkle Reducer attachment carries its own clearance, K212947 (2 April 2022, product code OHS).
What works
- Publishes its actual microamp output, which most of this category refuses to do
- Two located clearances, one for the device and one for the LED attachment
- Two-year warranty is the longest here
What does not
- Attachments are sold separately and add up fast
- Needs conductive gel every session, which is a running cost
- The app is a convenience, not a reason to buy
Specifications from NuFACE product page; FDA 510(k) K201782 and K212947, checked 13 October 2026.
No. 2 · Best for waveform control
ZIIP Halo
ZIIP Beauty · Best for people who want to vary the treatment
Publishes a range rather than a ceiling - 900 nanoamps to 400 microamps across up to 23 waveform combinations - which is a more informative claim than a single number. No clearance located for the Halo specifically; ZIIP's records are K161484 and K212342 for earlier devices.
The app-driven device that runs nanocurrent as well as microcurrent, with a published current range that spans three orders of magnitude.
Specifications
| Output | 900 nA to 400 microamps across up to 23 waveform combinations |
|---|---|
| Flagship routine | THE LIFT, 4 minutes |
| Control | Treatments are pushed from the ZIIP app |
| Clearance | None located for the Halo; see K161484 and K212342 for the brand |
FDA clearance not located
No 510(k) record located for the Halo specifically. ZIIP's cleared devices on file are the ZIIP Device (K161484, 24 February 2017) and ZIIP+ (K212342, 23 September 2021), both product code NFO.
What works
- Publishes an actual current range, including the nanocurrent floor
- The only device here that treats waveform shape as the variable
- Four-minute flagship routine is realistically repeatable
What does not
- No located clearance for this model
- The device is useless without the app and an account
- Conductive gel is proprietary and a continuing cost
Specifications from ZIIP Halo retail specification; FDA 510(k) database query, checked 13 October 2026.
No. 3 · Best entry point
NuFACE MINI+
NuFACE · Best for a first microcurrent device
K191672, the same product code as the flagship, in a body small enough that people actually keep using it. No attachment system and NuFACE does not publish a comparable output figure, so you are buying the brand's protocol in a smaller package.
The compact NuFACE: the same microcurrent family in a smaller body with fixed spheres and no attachment system.
Specifications
| Attachments | Fixed spheres; no interchangeable heads |
|---|---|
| Protocol | 5 times a week for 60 days, then 2-3 times a week |
| Clearance | K191672, 15 October 2019, product code NFO |
| Output | Lower ceiling than the TRINITY+; NuFACE does not publish a directly comparable figure |
FDA clearance located
510(k) K191672 (NuFACE Mini Device, cleared 15 October 2019, applicant Carol Cole Company dba NuFACE, product code NFO).
What works
- A located clearance in the same product code as the flagship
- Travel size, and the one people actually keep using
- Much lower entry cost than the TRINITY+
What does not
- No attachment system, so no eye and lip head and no red-light head
- Lower output ceiling and NuFACE does not publish the number
- Smaller spheres mean a longer session to cover the same face
Specifications from FDA 510(k) K191672; NuFACE product listing, checked 13 October 2026.
No. 4 · Best manual control
7E Wellness MyoLift Mini
7E Wellness · Best for anyone who wants esthetician-style technique
Twin probes and manual microamp adjustment rather than presets. The MyoLift QT in the same family holds K213078. It punishes sloppy technique and rewards learning properly, which is a narrower proposition than the others here.
A professional-lineage true microcurrent device with manual current control rather than preset routines.
Specifications
| Control | Manual microamp adjustment rather than fixed presets |
|---|---|
| Probes | Twin handheld probes, esthetician-style technique |
| Clearance | K213078 covers the MyoLift QT; no separate Mini record located |
FDA clearance not located
The MyoLift QT carries 510(k) K213078 (27 April 2023, applicant Johari Digital Healthcare Limited, product code NFO). We could not locate a separate record for the Mini.
What works
- Manual current control is the closest a home device gets to professional technique
- The family has a located clearance in the right product code
- Twin probes let you work one muscle at a time
What does not
- Steep learning curve, and it punishes sloppy technique
- No separate located clearance for the Mini
- Needs cotton tips and solution, not just gel
Specifications from FDA 510(k) K213078, checked 13 October 2026.
No. 5 · Easiest to live with
FOREO BEAR 2
FOREO · Best for hygiene and low effort
A sealed silicone body you can rinse under a tap, which no other device here can claim. FOREO publishes no microamp figure at all, and we could not locate a clearance for the BEAR 2 face model specifically - K200803 covers BEAR and BEAR mini.
A silicone-bodied microcurrent device with a sensor that claims to detect and throttle current by skin area.
Specifications
| Output | FOREO does not publish a microamp figure |
|---|---|
| Body | Sealed silicone, fully washable |
| Clearance | K200803 covers BEAR and BEAR mini; no separate BEAR 2 face record located |
FDA clearance not located
FOREO's located clearances cover BEAR and BEAR mini (K200803, 31 July 2020, product code NFO) and BEAR 2 Body (K232242, 13 May 2024). We could not locate a separate record for the face BEAR 2.
What works
- Sealed silicone body is the easiest device here to keep clean
- The brand does hold a located clearance in this product code
- Works with its own gel or a generic conductive gel
What does not
- No published microamp output at all, so it cannot be compared on the one number that matters
- No located clearance for the BEAR 2 face model specifically
- Heavily app-dependent
Specifications from FDA 510(k) database query, applicant FOREO, 13 October 2026, checked 13 October 2026.
No. 6 · Most modalities
Medicube AGE-R Booster Pro
Medicube · Best for wanting more than microcurrent
Seven modes including electroporation, which nothing else here offers. No located FDA clearance for any AGE-R device and no published microamp figure, so the microcurrent is one feature among several rather than a specification you can evaluate.
A seven-mode multi-modality device that bundles electroporation, microcurrent, EMS, electric needles, LED and sonic vibration into one dual-head body.
Specifications
| Modes | 7, including Booster (electroporation), MC, Derma Shot, Air Shot, Mask and AI |
|---|---|
| Intensity levels | 6 |
| Head | Dual head |
| Power | DC 5V / 2A USB-C, 3.7 V 2,600 mAh battery |
| Clearance | None located |
FDA clearance not located
No 510(k) record located under the Medicube brand or the AGE-R device names in the public FDA database.
What works
- Genuinely does several jobs, and the electroporation mode has no equivalent in the NuFACE or ZIIP lines
- Published electrical specifications, which is unusual at this price
- Dual head covers ground quickly
What does not
- No located FDA clearance for any AGE-R device
- No published microamp figure, so it cannot be compared to NuFACE on output
- Seven modes means the microcurrent is one feature among many, not the focus
Specifications from Medicube retail specification; FDA 510(k) database query, 13 October 2026, checked 13 October 2026.
The honest counter-case
Who should not buy any of these
- Anyone with an implanted electrical device, including a pacemaker. This is a hard contraindication across every manufacturer. Full contraindications.
- Anyone who will not do the protocol. Five sessions a week for sixty days is the entry requirement. Four sessions total gets you a party trick and a drawer ornament.
- Anyone whose complaint is texture rather than contour. That is an LED question, not a microcurrent one.
- Anyone whose complaint is genuine laxity. Microcurrent works on muscle tone. Radiofrequency addresses the dermis.
