About

A site built on things you can look up yourself

No test lab, no review units, no star ratings. What we have is the FDA's public database, every manufacturer's published spec sheet, and a policy of telling you which numbers are missing.

Soft natural light in a calm domestic setting

Glow & Current exists because choosing between two LED masks should not require decoding a spec sheet alone, and because almost every page that promises to help you do it quietly skips the part where the specifications are missing.

The author

Who writes this

Selena H. is the hands-on owner behind Glow & Current. She reads the spec sheets, the FDA clearance database and the manufacturer documentation, and she says plainly when a number is not published.

That is the whole bio, and the shortness is deliberate. She is not a dermatologist, a cosmetic scientist or an engineer, and this site will never imply otherwise. What she does hold is the willingness to look things up and publish what came back, including the blanks - which, in this category, turns out to be rarer than a credential.

The method

What we actually do

  • Read the manufacturer's published specifications and record them exactly, including which figures are absent.
  • Search the FDA's public 510(k) database device by device, by brand, by applicant and by device name. We found records for 20 of the 44 devices covered here, and we publish the number, date and product code for every one.
  • Label every brand-stated figure as brand-stated. An irradiance number from a manufacturer has not been independently verified, and we write it that way every time.
  • Cite the source at the bottom of the page, with a link, so you can check us.
  • Say when we do not know. Most of this category does not publish irradiance. That absence is a finding and we report it as one.

The limits

What we deliberately do not do

  • No star ratings or numeric scores. A score implies an evaluation we did not perform. We name a winner and say exactly why, which is more useful and more honest.
  • No fabricated reviews or testimonials. There are none on this site because we have none to publish.
  • No prices in the copy. Prices move; a number we wrote last month would mislead you today. Every buy button goes to the live listing.
  • No medical advice. We report what regulators and manufacturers have published. Anything touching a medical condition belongs with a clinician.

Money

How this is funded

Glow & Current earns affiliate commission when you buy through a link here, at no extra cost to you. We are an Amazon Associate and Amazon is currently the only retailer we earn from. No brand pays for placement, no brand sees copy before it publishes, and no brand has ever sent us a device. The full disclosure is here.

The commercial incentive in this category usually pushes toward recommending the most expensive device. The incentive that governs this site is different: a reader who buys something that disappoints them does not come back. Where the honest answer is that you should not upgrade, we write that, and several pages here say exactly that.

Accountability

Corrections

If a specification here is wrong, or we missed a clearance record that exists, tell us. We will correct it and note what changed and when. This is the fastest way to improve the site and we read every one of those messages first. The site currently carries 98 comparisons, reviews, roundups and guides, all of which are open to being wrong.
