Head to head
TriPollar STOP VX vs STOP VX2
Same manufacturer, same clearance family, same core mechanisms. The VX2 adds a thermal sensor that adjusts energy in real time, and that is genuinely the whole upgrade.

The upgrade
What thermal mapping actually changes
RF works by holding tissue in a temperature band. Too cool, nothing happens. Too hot, you are injuring skin. The band is reasonably narrow and the device is in your hand, moving.
On the VX, your feedback is sensation: it should feel comfortably warm. Skin is not a precise thermometer, warmth perception varies by area, and a cheek and a forehead do not feel the same at the same temperature.
The VX2's sensor measures and adjusts energy continuously to hold the target. That is the same category of improvement as Braun's skin-tone sensor in IPL: hardware taking over a judgment the user was making badly.
The shared feature
Dynamic Muscle Activation is on both
DMA is Pollogen's muscle-stimulation layer, targeting different layers of facial muscle alongside the RF heating. Both generations have it.
It is worth knowing that this makes the STOP line a two-mechanism device: dermal heating plus muscle work. If you were considering both an RF device and a microcurrent device, the overlap is real and worth factoring in before buying two things.
Regulation
The clearance situation
Pollogen's STOP U (model UXV) line holds K220322 (4 May 2023), K203665 (25 February 2021) and K182774 (19 June 2019), all under product code PAY.
Those records cover the STOP U line rather than naming VX or VX2 specifically, which is worth stating. Pollogen is a serious manufacturer that also builds professional clinic systems, so the regulatory posture is strong even where the model naming does not map one-to-one.
Context
Where the whole line sits now
TriPollar has since introduced the Aura, which the company describes as achieving the same outcome at two minutes per area rather than four - a 50 percent reduction in total treatment time. That matters here for two reasons: it tells you Pollogen itself regards the twenty-minute routine as the line's main weakness, and it means both the VX and VX2 are now older models.
If the time cost is what is stopping you buying, that is the direction the category is moving in. Our honest view on the time commitment.
In detail
Every pick, and why
The one to buy new
TriPollar STOP VX2
TriPollar (Pollogen) · Best for anyone who wants temperature control rather than guesswork
Multi-RF across three frequencies to a published 41.6 C target, with intelligent thermal mapping adjusting energy in real time, plus Dynamic Muscle Activation. Clearance family K220322 and K203665.
Multi-frequency radiofrequency with muscle activation and a thermal sensor, from the clinical-device manufacturer Pollogen.
Specifications
| Technology | Multi-RF across three frequencies, plus Dynamic Muscle Activation |
|---|---|
| Target temperature | Up to 41.6 C with thermal-mapping control |
| Session | 4 minutes per area; full face 15-20 minutes |
| Clearance | K220322 / K203665, product code PAY |
FDA clearance located
Pollogen's STOP U (model UXV) line holds 510(k) K220322 (4 May 2023) and K203665 (25 February 2021), product code PAY - RF device for non-invasive skin treatment.
What works
- Located clearances from a manufacturer that also builds professional clinic systems
- Publishes its target skin temperature, which is the number that actually governs RF outcomes
- Muscle activation is a real second mechanism, not a mode name
What does not
- 15-20 minutes for a full face is the longest routine on this site
- Needs a dedicated RF gel every session
- The clearance records are for the STOP U line, not the VX2 name specifically
Specifications from Pollogen product page; FDA 510(k) K220322, checked 13 October 2026.
The one to buy discounted
TriPollar STOP VX
TriPollar (Pollogen) · Best for the same mechanisms at a lower price
Multi-RF and Dynamic Muscle Activation, four minutes per area, covered by K203665 and K182774. No thermal mapping, so the temperature feedback is what you feel rather than what the device measures.
The previous STOP generation, still sold and frequently discounted below the VX2.
Specifications
| Technology | Multi-RF with Dynamic Muscle Activation |

| Session | 4 minutes per area |
| Clearance | K203665 / K182774, product code PAY |
FDA clearance located
Covered by the same Pollogen STOP U (model UXV) clearance family: K203665 (25 February 2021) and K182774 (19 June 2019), product code PAY.
What works
- Located clearances in the same family as the VX2
- Same core RF and muscle-activation mechanisms
- Regularly much cheaper than the current model
What does not
- No thermal-mapping refinement
- Older accessory ecozystem
- Same long full-face routine
Specifications from FDA 510(k) K203665 and K182774, checked 13 October 2026.
The decision
Which to buy
- VX2 if the price gap is modest. Temperature control is the right thing to pay for in RF.
- VX if the discount is substantial. Same mechanisms, older feedback model, and still a Pollogen device.
- Neither if twenty minutes several times a week is not realistic for you. That is the honest filter and it applies to both.
