Head to head

Medicube AGE-R Booster Pro vs Booster Pro X2

Both generations are sold side by side in most markets, and Medicube does not publish a change log that makes the difference concrete. Here is what we could and could not establish.

The shared platform

What the Booster Pro does

Both generations combine six technologies in one dual-head body: electroporation, microcurrent, EMS, electric needles, LED and sonic vibration, across seven selectable modes - Booster, MC, Derma Shot, Air Shot, Mask and an AI mode among them - with six intensity levels.

Electroporation is the genuinely distinctive one. It uses brief electrical pulses to transiently increase cell membrane permeability so topical actives penetrate further, and no other device on this site offers it. We cover that against NuFACE here.

Checked 13 October 2026. We looked for a manufacturer comparison that distinguishes the generations on performance and could not find one.

That table is the honest output of the research. When a manufacturer releases a revision and does not publish what changed, the only things a buyer can compare are price and availability.

Being fair

What the published electrical specs do tell you

Medicube deserves a small amount of credit here. It publishes input voltage, battery rating, dimensions and weight for the Booster Pro, which several far more expensive devices on this site do not. That is more hard data than FOREO gives you.

It is just not the data that tells you what the device does to your face. Battery capacity tells you how long it runs, not what it delivers while running.

Regulation

The clearance question, again

We searched the FDA 510(k) database by the Medicube brand and by the AGE-R device names. No record returned for either generation.

Medicube is a large Korean skincare brand with significant US retail presence, so this is unlikely to be an oversight. Many cosmetic devices are legally sold in the US without a 510(k). It does mean that when you compare this device to a NuFACE or a ZIIP, you are comparing a product with a reviewable regulatory record to one without. How to check any device yourself.

The current revision

Medicube AGE-R Booster Pro X2

Medicube · Best for anyone buying new into this line

The newer model, which is the one that will stay supported and stocked. Same multi-modality coverage as the original. No located clearance and no published output, same as its predecessor.

The revised Booster Pro, sold alongside the original in most markets.

Specifications

ModesMulti-mode, dual head, same family as the Booster Pro
ClearanceNone located
OutputNot published in microamps

FDA clearance not located

No 510(k) record located under the Medicube brand or the AGE-R device names.

What works

  • The current revision, so it is the one that will stay supported
  • Same multi-modality coverage as the Booster Pro
  • Widely stocked

What does not

  • No located clearance
  • Medicube does not publish a change log that makes the upgrade case concrete
  • No published output figure on either generation

Specifications from Medicube retail specification; FDA 510(k) database query, 13 October 2026, checked 13 October 2026.

The original

Medicube AGE-R Booster Pro

Medicube · Best for if it is substantially cheaper

Seven modes, six intensity levels, dual head, published electrical specifications (DC 5V/2A USB-C, 3.7 V 2,600 mAh). Also no clearance and no output figure. If the discount is real, you are not giving up anything documented.

A seven-mode multi-modality device that bundles electroporation, microcurrent, EMS, electric needles, LED and sonic vibration into one dual-head body.

Specifications

Modes7, including Booster (electroporation), MC, Derma Shot, Air Shot, Mask and AI
Intensity levels6
HeadDual head
PowerDC 5V / 2A USB-C, 3.7 V 2,600 mAh battery
ClearanceNone located

FDA clearance not located

No 510(k) record located under the Medicube brand or the AGE-R device names in the public FDA database.

What works

  • Genuinely does several jobs, and the electroporation mode has no equivalent in the NuFACE or ZIIP lines
  • Published electrical specifications, which is unusual at this price
  • Dual head covers ground quickly

What does not

  • No located FDA clearance for any AGE-R device
  • No published microamp figure, so it cannot be compared to NuFACE on output
  • Seven modes means the microcurrent is one feature among many, not the focus

Specifications from Medicube retail specification; FDA 510(k) database query, 13 October 2026, checked 13 October 2026.

The decision

Which to buy

  • The X2 if the price difference is small. It is the current revision and will stay supported longer.
  • The original Booster Pro if it is meaningfully discounted. Nothing published distinguishes their performance, so a real discount is a real saving.
  • Neither if what you want is microcurrent specifically with a documented output. NuFACE publishes 340 microamps and holds eight clearances.

FAQ

Questions people actually ask

What is the difference between Medicube Booster Pro and Booster Pro X2?
Medicube does not publish a specification comparison that distinguishes them on performance. Both are multi-modality dual-head devices with the same technology set. The X2 is the current revision; nothing published shows it delivers more.
Is the Medicube Booster Pro FDA cleared?
We searched the public 510(k) database by brand and by the AGE-R device names on 13 October 2026 and found no record for either generation.
What is the Medicube Booster Pro's microcurrent output?
Not published. Medicube publishes six intensity levels and the device's charging specifications, but no microamp figure, so it cannot be compared with devices that do publish one.
Should I buy the older model if it is cheaper?
Nothing published distinguishes the two generations on performance, so a real discount on the original is a real saving. The X2 will stay supported longer.
