Head to head
CurrentBody Series 2 vs Shark CryoGlow
Unusually for this category, both of these have a 510(k) you can look up. That makes this a comparison about indications and form factor rather than about who is telling the truth.

Regulation
Reading the two clearances
This is the rare comparison where both records exist, so it is worth reading them rather than just counting them.
K250966 covers the CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Mask Series 2, model MK-90H, under OHS: light-based over-the-counter wrinkle reduction. One indication, cleanly matched to the product.
K242796 covers the SharkNinja CryoGlow under the same OHS code, but its indications are written more broadly: red and infrared for lines and wrinkles, and red, blue and infrared for mild-to-moderate inflammatory acne. Two indications on one record is unusual, and it means Shark's acne claim has been reviewed rather than merely asserted.
Fit
Flexible or rigid is the daily difference
The Series 2 is silicone and drapes. The CryoGlow is rigid, because the cooling plate, Peltier elements and fans need somewhere to live.
That rigidity has a specification consequence nobody states: irradiance falls off with distance, so a rigid shell standing off the cheekbones delivers less light there than a flexible one touching them. Neither brand publishes irradiance, so this is reasoning from physics rather than from data, and we are flagging it as such. It is nonetheless the strongest argument for the Series 2.
The CryoGlow's feature
The cooling, honestly assessed
It is a real feature and it is the thing owners mention first. It is also under-eye only. If you want it for morning puffiness, it delivers. If you wanted a cool mask because heat is a trigger, it does not do that and no mask here does.
Three selectable routines is a genuine advantage over the Series 2's single cycle, especially if you want a short maintenance session some days and a full one on others.
In detail
Every pick, and why
Better for lines
CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Mask Series 2
CurrentBody · Best for anti-aging as the single goal
Three wavelengths with 1072 nm, a flexible shell that lies flat, and K250966 naming the exact model. No blue light, so it is a single-purpose device, and that purpose is lines.
The three-wavelength silicone mask that made CurrentBody the default recommendation, and the one device in this comparison whose exact 510(k) we can cite.
Specifications
| Wavelengths | 633 nm red, 830 nm near-infrared, 1072 nm deep near-infrared |
|---|---|
| LEDs | 236 bulbs |
| Irradiance | Not published by the manufacturer |
| Session | 10 minutes, 3-5 times a week |
| Clearance | K250966, 25 June 2025, product code OHS |
FDA clearance located
510(k) K250966 (CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Mask Series 2, model MK-90H, cleared 25 June 2025, applicant Shenzhen Kaiyan Medical Equipment Co., Ltd., product code OHS - light-based over-the-counter wrinkle reduction).
What works
- A 510(k) number we located for this exact model and can cite
- Three wavelengths including 1072 nm
- Nearly twice the diode count of the Omnilux
What does not
- No irradiance figure published anywhere, so diode count cannot be converted into delivered dose
- No blue light on this model
- Superseded in the lineup by the Series 3, which affects resale and support horizon

Better for acne and puffiness
Shark CryoGlow
Shark Beauty · Best for combination concerns
K242796 covers both wrinkles and mild-to-moderate inflammatory acne, which is a broader indication than almost anything else here. Under-eye cooling is a real daily feature. Rigid shell is the compromise.
A rigid LED mask with an under-eye cooling plate, and the only device in this category whose 510(k) explicitly covers both wrinkles and inflammatory acne.
Specifications
| Wavelengths | 630 nm red, blue, 830 nm infrared |
|---|---|
| LEDs | 160 tri-wick LEDs delivering 480 light sources |
| Irradiance | Not published by the manufacturer |
| Routines | Better Aging 6 minutes, Skin Sustain 4 minutes, Skin Clearing |
| Clearance | K242796, 27 November 2024, product code OHS |
FDA clearance located
510(k) K242796 (CryoGlow FW3XXXX, cleared 27 November 2024, applicant SharkNinja Operating LLC, product code OHS). The indications cover red and infrared for lines and wrinkles, and red, blue and infrared for mild-to-moderate inflammatory acne.
What works
- A located clearance that names acne as well as wrinkles, which almost none of this category does
- Under-eye cooling is a genuine feature, not a spec-sheet filler
- Three selectable routines instead of one fixed cycle
What does not
- Rigid shell does not conform to the face the way silicone does
- No published irradiance
- Heaviest and bulkiest option here

The decision
Who should buy which
- CurrentBody Series 2 if lines are the goal, you want a flexible shell, and you want 1072 nm.
- Shark CryoGlow if acne is part of the picture, you want a clearance that names it, or under-eye puffiness is a daily problem.
- Neither if you want whole-face cooling or neck coverage - neck coverage is a separate purchase on both sides.
